Geraniums are a classic gardener’s favourite and are easy to grow from seed. Popular varieties include ‘Garden Flares’ with large flower heads and a long flowering period and ‘Earlibird Mix’ for masses of blooms all summer long.

Sow geranium seeds under cover January to March in Surestart Seed & Cutting Compost.

Harden off throughout May and plant out once all risk of frost has passed.

Plant out in well drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded spot. Incorporate organic matter such as organic Farmyard Manure or Soil Conditioner first to improve soil structure and boost nutrient levels or add Multi-Purpose Compost with added John Innes to planting holes.

Alternatively use in containers and hanging baskets using West+ Container & Basket Compost & 4 Month Feed.

Feed throughout the season with Nutri All Purpose Plant Food. If growing in containers mix Nutri Slow Release Plant Food granules or tablets into the compost when planting.

Dead head regularly to encourage prolonged flowering.

Protect from slug damage using Eraza Slug and Snail Killer.
